Story of "Coco"

The story of Coco begins with Miguel Rivera, a 12-year-old boy living with his family of shoemakers in a small Mexican village. The Rivera family has a strict, generations-long ban on music because Miguel's great-great-grandmother, Mama Imelda, was abandoned by her husband, who left home to pursue a musical career. Despite this ban, Miguel secretly loves music and idolizes the legendary musician Ernesto de la Cruz. On Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), Miguel discovers a hidden detail in an old family photo that leads him to believe Ernesto is his long-lost great-great-grandfather. Determined to perform in a local talent show, Miguel breaks into Ernesto's tomb to borrow his famous guitar, an act that magically transports him to the Land of the Dead.
